I built the studio I couldn't find

Evidence-based movement designed by a Nurse Practitioner for women who take their bodies seriously.

THE ORGIN STORY

I've been an athlete my entire life. High school, college, the years after — movement has always been how I make sense of my body and my world. When I became a nurse and then a Nurse Practitioner, the science behind movement became just as important to me as the movement itself. I wasn't just someone who liked to work out. I was someone who needed to understand why it worked.

I found a deeper relationship with fitness in 2011 — building movement plans, studying how bodies respond to training, understanding what consistency actually requires. In 2016 I completed my 200-hour registered yoga teacher training and fell in love with movement in a different way. Slower. More intentional. More connected to breath.

I started taking Pilates classes somewhere in there and thought I understood what it was. I'd felt the burn. I'd done the mat work. I assumed I had it figured out.
Then I took the Balanced Body Pilates instructor training — and I was wrong.

What I learned across those hours changed how I think about movement entirely. Classical Pilates — rooted in Joseph Pilates' original method — is built on precision, breath, spring resistance, and intentional sequencing. It is consistently supported by research for the outcomes that matter most to women's long-term health: bone density, pelvic floor function, core stability, joint health, and functional strength. It meets every body where it is. And it is genuinely, meaningfully different from what most people think Pilates is.

Then I found the reformer — and that was it.

I fell in love with classical Pilates and knew immediately I wanted to bring it to Dubuque.

I was born and raised in Dubuque. This city is home — and building something here, for the women who live here, has always been the point.

I wanted to create a dedicated movement studio where reformer Pilates, mat work, and strength training exist under one roof — built around the research, taught by instructors who know the method, and designed for women who are serious about how they feel long-term. That vision starts with Club Movement.

The other half of that vision started on vacation.

I love a great hotel spa — not for the facials, but for what happens in the thermal spaces. Dry sauna. Steam room. Cold plunge. Hot tub. The kind of contrast therapy that resets your nervous system, reduces inflammation, and leaves you feeling genuinely restored in a way that a workout alone never quite does. I've sought it out in other cities. I've built trips around it.

Every time I came home I thought: I want this here. Not as a destination. As a Tuesday afternoon.

Club Movement is the answer to both of those things. A movement studio built around evidence-based movement, Pilates and strength training — open now. Thermal recovery, red light therapy, restoration services, and wellness coaching built in as we grow. Everything in one place. Everything in Dubuque.

This city deserves it. I'm here to build it.

WHY DUBUQUE. WHY NOW.

WHAT I WANT YOU TO FEEL

When you walk through the door at Club Movement, I want you to feel taken care of.

That's the honest answer. Not inspired. Not motivated. Not challenged.

Taken care of.

Women spend an extraordinary amount of energy taking care of everyone and everything around them. The mental load is real. The physical toll is real. And the spaces that are supposed to serve women's health — the gyms, the group fitness studios, the generic wellness centers — often add to that load rather than relieve it.

Club Movement is built differently. It's calm. It's intentional. It's non-intimidating in a way that isn't accidental — because I'm an introvert, and I designed this space for people like me who want to be part of a community on their own terms. You can be fully in it or quietly on the edges of it. Both are welcome here.

No pressure to perform. No expectation to be anything other than where you are today.

Come move. Come recover. Come as often as you want, or as rarely as you need. We'll be here either way.

THE CLINCAL FOUNDATION

My background as a Doctoral-prepared nurse practitioner is not incidental to Club Movement — it's embedded in it.

Every class on the schedule is built around peer-reviewed research. Reformer Pilates for bone density and pelvic floor health. Resistance training for muscle mass preservation and metabolic function. Thermal contrast therapy for cardiovascular health, inflammation reduction, and nervous system regulation. These are not trends. They are interventions with evidence behind them, translated into a space that feels nothing like a clinical setting.

Club Movement operates under Lifestyle Health + Wellness — an integrative health organization that extends the clinical thinking behind this studio into comprehensive wellness coaching and medical-grade support. For members who want more than movement, that connection is available. For members who only want a great reformer class, it stays quietly in the background.

Either way, you're in a space built by someone who has spent her career searching and understanding what the body needs — and who finally built a place in Dubuque to give it to you.

WHERE RESEARCH MEETS REAL LIFE

Club Movement is built by a healthcare provider who got tired of wellness spaces that looked good but couldn't back up what they were selling.

Every class on the schedule is grounded in peer-reviewed research — bone density, muscle preservation, pelvic floor function, metabolic health, nervous system regulation. Not because it sounds impressive. Because it works, and your body deserves to know the difference.

The goal is not to be perfect at Pilates. The goal is to move consistently, age well, and feel capable in your body for decades to come.

WHERE WE'RE HEADED

Club Movement opens with what is ready and what is proven.

Reformer Pilates — six reformers, capped at six clients per class, instructors who teach rather than just demonstrate. Mat Pilates, yoga, strength training, and treadmill-based cardio classes built around the same evidence-based principles.

As the studio grows, so does the offering. Restoration classes — slow flow yoga, somatic movement, mobility work. Thermal recovery — sauna, steam, cold plunge, hot tub. Tech-assisted restoration — red light therapy, meditations. Wellness coaching through our connection with Lifestyle Health + Wellness.

The vision has always been a full wellness destination. We're building it in the right order — delivering what we can do exceptionally well today, and adding what comes next when we can do it the same way.

This is the beginning. Stay close.
